NCLB- Title I Parent Survey
Time Warner Cable Selects Banneker as a National Finalists
In October 2011, Time Warner Cable launched a “Super Connector Search” contest on their Connect a Million Minds campaign. They wanted to know how Time Warner Cable customers are connecting young people in their lives -- kids, students, mentees and more -- to hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) opportunities. Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology's Robotics team submitted a short essay describing the experience that made them a “Super Connector” and a supporting photo. BBCAT explained how our after-school STEM organization deserved to receive a grant from Time Warner Cable if named a contest finalist or winner.

The BBCAT essay was selected as a national finalist – the crème de la Connector crop. We were one of the 21 finalists from Time Warner Cable markets throughout the country who was recognized as having done an exceptional job of connecting young people in their communities to STEM. To celebrate the impact that our school has had on our community, Time Warner Cable donated $5,000 to the Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology Robotics program. We were very fortunate to join the likes of other Super Connector finalistsand STEM organizations like Mathworks, Urban Science Initiative, Hudson STEM Alliance, NYU Polytechnic Institute and more. Additionally BBCAT filmed our very own Connect a Million Minds public service announcement which will ran on air in the entire Kansas City market.
